Etna Tiburcio (she/her/ella) is the Chief of Staff based out of Houston, Texas and focuses on advancing organizational priorities through rigorous prioritization, processes, and strategic execution.
Etna’s commitment to championing social justice is grounded in her experiences navigating the education system as a first-generation student from an immigrant household. This led her to serve communities of color in various capacities as an educator and public health professional.
Etna began her career in education as a Teach For America corps member where she was a self-contained bilingual elementary teacher. She went on to provide leadership, strategy, and implementation of programming to meet the social emotional and mental health needs of students at two Texas school districts. Etna is also an EP alumna who was a COVID Response Fellow where she provided leadership and management capacity at Excel Academy Charter Schools to drive safe operations across the network.Etna joined EP due to her firm belief that the organization is best positioned to address systemic inequities to drive systems change.
Etna holds a B.A. in Community Health from Brown University and an MPH in Social and Behavioral Sciences and Global Health from the Yale School of Public Health. In her spare time, she can be found walking her pup, Harvey, traveling, or reading at a local coffee shop.
