Dear friends,
After two long years of disruption, students, parents, and educators are grateful to reclaim many aspects of classroom normalcy. But they’re also exhausted as they confront the stark realities of steep learning loss, widening inequities, and lingering trauma.
The sector faces immense adaptive challenges in this moment, from staffing shortages to resource management. Previous best practices are insufficient for today’s context. Now is the time for adaptive, inclusive leaders to define problems in new ways, identify novel solutions, and implement innovations that seize the potential for systems transformation.
Finding and developing K-12 leaders capable of rising to a challenge has been Education Pioneers’ purpose since 2003. Today, I’m proud to share EP’s 2022 Annual Report, which celebrates our 79 Fellows in 2022 who together reached 8M students – as well as our broader nationwide Alumni network of 4,600+ leaders who reached 15M+ students. I hope their stories inspire you.

In a moment when having the right talent is crucial, and when we cannot assume that new talent will find their way to the field, EP’s work to build, develop, and mobilize a diverse and representative pipeline of K-12 general managers is essential. And it matters more than ever that we reach the fullness of our potential.
After pivoting in the face of COVID and other headwinds, our team is on a journey to create a new EP that honors our two decades of impact while also positioning us to thrive in a fundamentally different world. As we look ahead towards our 20th anniversary in 2023, we are incredibly grateful for the champions who have supported us from the beginning – and the new champions who are helping us define a new era. Thank you for being a part of EP’s network of supporters.
With gratitude,
Melissa Wu
