Education Pioneers Kicks Off Selective Fellowship in Kansas City
Tuesday event will recruit skilled professionals to become transformative leaders in education
KANSAS CITY – Education Pioneers (EP), a national non-profit dedicated to recruiting, connecting, and advancing skilled professionals in education, is officially launching its Kansas City operations with a recruiting event on Tuesday.
EP believes in the power of transformative leaders to help improve education for underserved students. Our Fellows are professionals with diverse skills and backgrounds who solve problems from outside of the classroom so students and teachers succeed in the classroom.
More than 70 percent of our 3,000-plus alumni currently help re-imagine education in school districts, charter schools and other education organizations.
EP ran a pilot of its Fellowship in 2016, placing five Fellows with Kansas City Public Schools, Teach for America Kansas City, and PREP-KC. EP hopes to place at least eight Fellows with its Kansas City partner organizations in 2017.
Tuesday’s event is a fireside chat with leaders in education and technology designed to recruit potential Fellows in Kansas City.

Tom Esselman, Chief Executive Officer, Connecting for Good, which uses wireless Internet, community computer centers, low-cost refurbished PCs and free digital life skills classes to improve public education

“Technology is key in our efforts to transform education so all students have the chance to reach their full potential,” said Sara Guderyahn, executive director, Chicago and Midwest, at Education Pioneers. “Kansas City needs creative entrepreneurs and innovators in the education space outside of the classroom. Education Pioneers is looking to recruit, connect, and advance more leaders in education who have skills in technology — and in other key areas such as data analysis, strategy, operations, and program management.”
