Case Study: EP & Commit: Partnering for Impact in North Texas

In Dallas County, more than 700,000 students are served by one of the largest and most complex public education systems in the country—and their future economic mobility depends on it.

That’s why the Commit Partnership (Commit) is working to improve educational outcomes that set young people on a path to long-term success. But doing this work at scale requires something essential: the right talent.

As the largest collective impact education backbone organization in the U.S., Commit brings together more than 200 school systems, higher education institutions, government agencies, and workforce partners. In 2024, the organization partnered with Education Pioneers (EP) to strengthen its capacity in data, analytics, and policy by hosting eight EP Summer Fellows. These Fellows stepped into high-impact roles that helped Commit advance its goals while also fueling a long-term talent pipeline in the region.

“The EP Summer Fellowship provided a structured approach that enabled us to integrate versatile, experienced leaders with the necessary skills to make an immediate impact,” shared Commit’s Chief Operating Officer, Abby Mayer Eelsen.

Since 2012, Commit has hosted 11 EP Fellows and hired nine EP Alumni to its team—five of whom are still driving impact from within the organization today.

This new case study explores how Commit and EP collaborated to address pressing talent needs and accelerate systems-level change.
