Daniel Flores

Fellowship Year: 2019 Summer Fellow
Fellowship Location: Chicago, IL
Fellowship Placement: Chicago Public Schools

What I did before EP:
Prior to EP, I graduated with a BA from Northwestern University and a MS from the Kellogg School of Management. My roles as a Pricing/Revenue Management Analyst at United Airlines and Management Consultant at KPMG provided me with strong analytic and project management skill sets specializing in large scale enterprise implementations.

What I did during the Fellowship:
My work at Chicago Public Schools supported the Teaching & Learning Department by building a dynamic data system from the ground up to track leading indicators of success used to monitor effectiveness. This system helped ensure students in struggling schools receive the support they needed to be successful in core subject areas while tangibly measuring the impact of the department’s outreach.

What I learned from the Fellowship:
As a proud product of a public education and Title I schools, I became an EP Fellow because I wanted to help combat the achievement gap I saw my peers face growing up. The Fellowship taught me I could be a catalyst for change in education without having a senior leadership position. Moreover, the network of like-minded individuals that have served as thought-partners, supporters, and biggest cheerleaders has been invaluable. The EP network has shown up for me time and time again since the completion of my fellowship and I couldn’t be more thankful.
