Gold Chhim is the Managing Director, Projects and Placements at Education Pioneers, based out of his home office in Sacramento, CA, where he leads efforts to expand and strengthen partnerships that drive impact for EP Fellows and partner organizations. He focuses on developing and executing strategies to support EP’s growth and deepen relationships with stakeholders across the education sector.
Gold’s commitment to educational equity is deeply personal, rooted in his experiences growing up in Compton, CA, where he navigated systemic barriers as a first-generation college student. His passion for creating opportunities for students from underrepresented communities led him to a career in education, beginning as a high school mathematics teacher and founding basketball coach in Detroit. He later worked to improve teacher recruitment and retention across metro Detroit and led a national teacher recruitment campaign at Teach For America, achieving record-breaking results in candidate referrals. Most recently, Gold served as the Founding Director of Partnerships at OneGoal-Bay Area, driving regional expansion and fostering collaborations that support postsecondary success for students.
Gold earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles and his master’s degree at the University of Michigan. In his free time, he is an avid basketball fan and enjoys exploring new cities and cuisines.
