Education Pioneers Recruiting Early-Career Professionals for 10-Week Summer 2024 Fellowship
National nonprofit seeks to secure leaders who can address urgent priorities in education.

Boston, MA – Education Pioneers (EP), a national nonprofit focused on cultivating strong leaders for the public education sector, is thrilled to announce the launch of its highly anticipated 2024 Summer Fellowship application. The application window opened on September 12 with a priority application deadline of December 5, 2023. Final applications will be accepted through February 6, 2024. Aspiring education leaders can take advantage of this incredible opportunity to make a lasting impact on public education by applying today at https://educationpioneers.org/apply-to-our-fellowships/

EP creates pathways into meaningful careers in PreK-12 education via its Summer Fellowship specifically geared towards graduate students and emerging professionals. Summer Fellows complete a 10-week paid program in non-instructional roles, providing an opportunity to grow their leadership and speahead mission-critical, short-term projects in school districts, charter schools, government education agencies, or nonprofits.

EP is recruiting for 2024 Summer Fellows who will work in-person in one of four core regions: Chicago, IL; Dallas or Houston, TX; San Francisco Bay Area, CA; and Washington, DC. By establishing a concentrated presence in these areas, EP is strengthening relationships with local leaders, organizations, and communities, facilitating impactful change at a deeper and more proximate level.

“We are excited to open the doors to another transformative Summer Fellowship program,” said Lourdes Laguna, EP’s vice president of talent and partnerships. “This Fellowship represents a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to collaborate with some of the most innovative and impactful education-focused organizations in the country and to connect with other mission-aligned leaders. Through this program, EP believes we can drive positive change and improve educational outcomes for all students.”

Through this immersive experience, Fellows work on high-impact projects that address critical education challenges, from improving equity in the classroom to enhancing school leadership evaluation systems, to name a few. Summer Fellows work on initiatives that fall primarily in one of four priority areas: project/program management, data and analytics, operations, and strategy.

Summer Fellows receive impactful leadership development and valuable mentoring through on-the-job learning, in-person conveninings, site visits, and communities of practice. Upon graduation, Fellows join a nationwide network of 4,600+ diverse Alumni at every level of educational leadership in organizations across the country.

This year, EP welcomed more than double the leaders of its previous summer cohort. Eighty percent of its 2023 Summer Fellows identified as people of color, and collectively, the cohort impacted more than 1.3 million students by leading projects across strategy and communications, human capital management, and data and operations infrastructure within schools and districts.

“EP’s Summer Fellowship allowed me to marry my passion for education with my skills in business,” said Heston Nguyen, a 2023 Summer Fellow placed at Etoile Academy Charter School in Houston, TX. “I was previously a Teach for America – Greater Tulsa corps member and a staff auditor for a large accounting firm, and I received my master’s degree in accounting. Through the Fellowship, I was able to apply my background to support charter school principals with spending, saving, and strategizing how to bring in more funds to recruit more teachers. I want to become an expert in the ways schools receive and spend money, so that I can work with top academic leaders to bring a quality education to as many kids as we can.”

“As the education landscape continues to evolve, EP remains at the forefront of developing leaders who can drive innovation, advocate for change, and create lasting impact,” said Laguna. “The Summer Fellowship is a critical component of this mission.”

      1. It is essential that applicants have authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis. International students are eligible if they do not require visa assistance.
